European Association of Hospital Pharmacists is a working community of national associations of hospital pharmacists. Its membership includes representatives of national hospital pharmacy associations in almost all the European Union (EU) member states, in addition to Switzerland, Norway, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia and the Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia (FYROM) . Membership is increasing each year and, at present, EAHP represents the interest of over 21,000 hospital pharmacists in 29 countries all over Europe.

The European Stroke Conference was founded in 1990 by M.G. Hennerici (Germany) and J. Bogousslavsky (Switzerland). The first meeting was held in Düsseldorf and was attended by about 500 people – and proved to be a great success. At that time only the North American conference existed for clinical researchers and basic scientists to present data from stroke research. The prospect to establish another European stroke meeting was highly challenging. After biannual meetings, 1992 in Lausanne and 1994 in Stockholm and increasing attendance, however, the ESC became an annual, international, well-received and continuously growing stroke conference.

The Heart Rhythm Society is the international leader in science, education and advocacy for cardiac arrhythmia professionals and patients, and the primary information resource on heart rhythm disorders. Its mission is to improve the care of patients by promoting research, education and optimal health care policies and standards.

ESRA was founded in 1980 and has since become the leading European association involved in improving and standardizing the level of Regional Anaesthesia in Europe. ESRA’s membership numbers over 2000 and is comprised of the leading anaesthesia specialists in Europe from countries spanning east and west.

The association between cancer and thrombosis has been known for more than a century and, since its original description, this association has had several definitions, including: 1. The increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) as a complication of Cancer (as first described by Armand Trousseau in 1865); 2. The increased risk of an occult cancer in patients with idiopathic VTE (also described by Trousseau); 3. the likelihood that tumors possessed characteristics that activate blood coagulation (again, an observation of Trousseau); and, finally, 4. The possibility of a relation between the clotting mechanisms and the enhancement of tumor growth and the development of metastases (as postulated by Billroth in 1878).

ISPOR promotes the science of pharmacoeconomics (health economics) and outcomes research (the scientific discipline that evaluates the effect of health care interventions on patient well-being including clinical outcomes, economic outcomes, and patient-reported outcomes) and facilitates the translation of this research into useful information for healthcare decision-makers to ensure that society allocates scarce health care resources wisely, fairly and efficiently.

SICOT is an international non-profit association incorporated under Belgian law with the aim to advance the science and art of orthopaedics and traumatology at an international level and to foster and develop teaching, research and education.
SIROT is an international society, an offshoot of SICOT, and was founded in 1978. SIROT's purpose is to promote orthopaedic research and an understanding of its clinical relevance throughout the world.
